The Lester Fricks band

was formed in the summer of 2010 when two of our founding members, Glen Stewart (guitar / vocals) and Tony Matthews (mando/fiddle/vocals), both wanted to be better musicians and decided that forming a band was the way to do it. The group came together surprisingly fast: Heather Henry (guitar/fiddle/banjo/harmonica/vocals), Lilianne Smith (fiddle/vocals), and Jan Pulley (bass/vocals) soon joined in. When Heather left to help form a new group called Nash St. Ramblers with Sandra Herring, Sandra stepped in to fill the void when she’s not playing with Up Cane Creek, delighting us with her “Lego” banjo licks and vocals. Tony moved on to multiple pastures, namely Three Jack Jenny, the Blue Tailed Skinks and more, so Jim Prichard saved our necks by diving in with his vocals (lead and harmony) and his brilliant mando stylings.

Our music is a mix

of traditional Country, Bluegrass, Americana, and Old Time tunes, as well as original tunes by some of the members, so there’s really something for everyone. A performance can feature anything from a classic Bill Monroe song to the Grateful Dead. We’d love to play for YOUR party or event — see our Contact page for more information. Please sign up for our email newsletter for the latest info on where we’ll be playing, or just check our calendar.
